Beginning February, 2008, Professional Nurses Service will be formally owned by its current shareholders and Bayada Nurses in a fifty-fifty partnership. When Professional Nurses announced last November that it would be forced to close its doors before Christmas unless an investor could be found. Bayada Nurses, a New Jersey-based home health care company with 130 offices in 16 states, stepped in to help.

According to a state finding, one-percent of Vermonters in need of home health services go without care due to a shortage of caregivers and agencies. With Vermont’s aging population, home care demand is expected to increase 8 to 10 percent annually over the next 15 years. Professional Nurses Service currently provides care annually to more than 1,000 Vermonters in their homes. Both companies feel combining Professional Nurses’ exceptional care with Bayada’s resources and more than 30 years of success in home care will help ensure the continuation of outstanding home health services in the state of Vermont.
